In Ukraine, the procedures for creating and functioning of foster families have been changed.

The government has approved important changes in the system of foster families. Now, the executive committees of rural and settlement councils will make decisions on this issue, rather than district administrations.
The main goal of the changes is to provide greater protection of children's rights. New families and orphanages must be created within 60 days. Additionally, foster parents can receive housing to ensure the normal functioning of orphanages.
The Ministry of Social Policy reminds that there is state support in the form of subsidies for purchasing housing for large foster families. This year, more than 120 families will receive such assistance, which is an important step in providing housing for over 700 orphaned children and children deprived of parental care by 2029.
The government has changed the rules for creating foster families by transferring the competence in this matter to the executive committees of local councils. The innovations aim to ensure better protection of children's rights and facilitate access to support for the wards of foster families. State support in the form of subsidies for purchasing housing for large families underscores the importance of expanding the system of foster families and creating comfortable conditions for orphaned children and children deprived of parental care.
