The Turkish government has decided to close more than 4,000 accommodation facilities, creating problems for many tourists who planned their vacations. According to the newspaper BirGün, only 200 of these establishments will be able to quickly resume their operations.
The start of the 2025 tourist season has been unsatisfactory due to the closure of over 4,000 hotels for violations of administrative norms. Inspectors were focused on ensuring fire safety and compliance with legislation, which led to the forced closure of facilities and complicated the start of the season, causing inconvenience for tourists.
Experts predict an increase in the role of the tourism sector in Turkey's GDP by 2028.
