NATO countries agree on increasing military spending
NATO member states are working on an agreement to increase defense spending that could meet U.S. President Donald Trump's demand to allocate 5% of GDP for military purposes. Negotiations within the military alliance are succeeding in developing a plan to reach this figure by 2032, which will be discussed at the NATO summit in June.
NATO foreign ministers are gathering in Antalya to discuss the initiative to increase defense spending. Most alliance member countries are currently not meeting Trump's demand in terms of allocated funds for military needs.
A joint agreement to increase defense spending is a tremendous challenge, but some countries, such as Italy and Spain, are already demonstrating a rise in defense spending. It is expected that all alliance participants will meet the new requirements by the summit and consider the details of future defense plans.
