President Volodymyr Zelensky has made the decision for Ukraine to withdraw from the international convention on the prohibition of anti-personnel mines. This decision was motivated by the situation in the east of the country, where the enemy uses mines against Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.
Indeed, this is a necessary step in the war against the aggressor, who does not adhere to international agreements. The next step will be for the Verkhovna Rada to consider legislation to support this decision. Poland, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland have already taken such steps.
The decision to withdraw from the convention is considered a justified step in the conditions of war and aggression in eastern Ukraine. It is a necessary measure to protect Ukrainian soldiers and the civilian population from anti-personnel mines, which pose a serious threat to the lives and health of people.
