The right-wing party 'Alternative for Germany' (AfD) has taken first place in Germany
According to research from social institutions Insa and Ipsos, if elections were held next Sunday in Germany, 'Alternative for Germany' (AfD) would take first place in the country. Ipsos polling shows that AfD received the best result in its history - 25% of the votes. The CDU/CSU bloc, which won the elections on February 23, would receive 24% of the votes. The SPD remains in third place with 15% support, while the 'Greens' and the Left received 11% support each.
The Ipsos poll on Wednesday was the first in which AfD is ahead.
The Insa social institute study showed that both AfD and CDU/CSU received 24.5% of the votes. The SPD ranks fourth with 16% support, while the 'Greens' and the Left each received 10% support.
