The cause of the explosion is currently unknown.According to Bloomberg, several mysterious explosions have occurred recently on oil tankers that visited Russian ports. This has led owners of vessels to begin additional checking for mines with divers and underwater drones. According to consulting firm Vanguard Tech, since the beginning of this year, explosions have also occurred on four other vessels that had also visited Russian ports. Similar accidents have previously occurred with oil tankers near Sakhalin and Kamchatka. The situation with the explosion on the tanker Vilamoura only emphasizes the overall trend of threats to vessels that visit Russian ports. This has raised serious concerns among ship owners and increased security control and checks for mines on their vessels to avoid similar incidents in the future.
