Germany investigates sabotage on its military ship.

Germany investigates possible sabotage on the frigate Hessen
A possible sabotage attempt on the Hessen frigate of the Bundeswehr is being investigated in Germany. According to a report by 'Glavkom', specialists discovered an attempt to contaminate the ship's drinking water supply system with used oil.
The speed of detecting the contamination allowed to limit its damage on the ship. It is noted that the filling of the ship's fresh water tanks was conducted by a private company from Lower Saxony.
General information about the incident has been confirmed by the Bundeswehr itself. The police and the Federal Office for Military Counterintelligence (BAMAD) are involved in the investigation.
Repeat sabotage in the German military
The Hessen frigate was undergoing scheduled repairs in Wilhelmshaven when the sabotage attempt occurred. Earlier, on February 11, a similar situation took place on the corvette Emden, where metal shavings were thrown into the power unit. Vice Admiral Jan Christian Kaak reported that German military vessels are becoming targets of sabotage.
Espionage for Russia
Against the backdrop of the investigation into the sabotage attempt, the Federal Prosecutor's Office of Germany announced charges against three men for espionage on behalf of Russia.
Previously, Russian hockey player Maxim Sergeyev, who played for the hockey club 'Zaglembie Sosnowiec', was sentenced to long-term imprisonment on espionage charges. On May 26, 2025, Poland will deport Sergeyev to Russia, where he will continue his punishment.
