A man drowned in Ternopil region while trying to rescue his grandson from the river.


A true tragedy occurred in the Ternopil region. A 58-year-old man died while saving his grandson, who had found himself in the water of the Dniester River in the village of Zolotopoticzka in the Buchach district.
'On the evening of June 24, the man came to the river with his grandchildren to swim, and one of them began to drown. He jumped into the water to save the child. The man managed to push his grandson to shallow water, but he could not survive himself.'
Witnesses pulled the man's body from the water, but he could not be saved. However, the child survived. This incident led to the opening of a criminal case under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with a note of 'accident'.

Accidents on the water occur not only in the Ternopil region. In Vinnytsia, a man died while crossing a river, a 15-year-old girl drowned in Volyn, and a 15-year-old teenager drowned in Donetsk.
