On the popular beach of Sardinia, there is an interesting rule that surprises tourists.

In Europe, it is prohibited to place towels on La Pelosa beach
On the island of Sardinia in Italy, there is a beach called La Pelosa, where tourists are prohibited from placing towels on the sand. The authorities restricted this possibility since 2018, as there have been reports of sand theft from the beach. Now towels can only be placed on a straw mat, which can be rented on-site.
This decision has caused outrage among locals, who believe that the mayor is turning the area into a resort for wealthy tourists. Additionally, the entire Sardinia has adopted a law imposing fines on those who take sand and shells from the beach.
The mayor explains that the main task is to protect the beauty of the beach, and this decision is based on scientific research. It is worth noting that in Portugal, strict measures are also being taken to clean the streets of inappropriate items, but this has caused outrage among tourists.
