A Kyiv resident was charged a debt of 13 thousand UAH for electricity — how did this happen.


One of the residents of Kyiv received a bill for consumed electricity of over 13 thousand hryvnias. The man refused to pay the debt and went to court, believing that the company providing the service was at fault.

In 2021, a manager from Yasno company came to the man's apartment and changed his meter to the 'Day/Night' tariff. According to the decision of the Shevchenkivsky district court in Kyiv, at the Time of the tariff change, the consumer had no debts, but afterward, a debt of 13.5 thousand hryvnias was charged. The man tried to resolve this issue with Yasno and DTEK 'Kyiv Electric Networks', but unsuccessfully. Therefore, he appealed to the court to cancel the charged debt.
What the court decided
The court dismissed the Kyiv resident's claim, stating that he failed to prove a violation of Ukrainian legislation in the electricity billing.
