The dollar will soar above 45 hryvnias: NBU predicts a sharp increase in the currency.


Bankers and financial analysts have changed their forecasts regarding the dollar rate in Ukraine.
According to the National Bank, forecasts for the dollar rate for the next year have become less optimistic. Financial analysts, bankers, and the population expect it to rise to 45 hryvnias.
In January 2025, financial analysts raised their expectations for the dollar rate to 45.19 hryvnias per dollar, compared to the forecast in December 2024, which was 44.83 hryvnias.
Moreover, representatives of the banking sector predict the dollar will strengthen to 45.31 hryvnias, which is higher than their estimate in October of 44.92 hryvnias per dollar.
The population of Ukraine expects a rate of 44.53 UAH/USD in January, while the December forecast was 44.11 UAH/USD.
Business leaders predict a rate of 44.42 UAH/USD for November, according to the forecast.
In 2024, there was a significant increase in the dollar rate - by 10.7%, and the official rate reached 42.03 hryvnias. At the beginning of 2025, a new maximum was set - 42.28 hryvnias per dollar, but then the rate began to decline and as of February 17, it reached 41.62 hryvnias per dollar.
The living wage and minimum salary remain at last year's level. The living wage for non-working individuals is 2361 hryvnias, while the minimum salary is 8000 hryvnias.
According to the current rate, to buy 100 dollars, Ukrainians need to spend 4162 hryvnias, which is over 52% of the minimum wage. This shows how much income citizens earning the minimum wage have to spend even on small currency savings.
Ukraine expects significant growth in the dollar rate.
